Consuming Cocktails: Elderflower G&T

A superbly refreshing libation, this Elderflower Gin &  Tonic is the perfect way to pay homage to the season that just was, and to savour the final few warm days before Autumn really sets in (...in some hypothetical dream world of course, because Manchester is already freezing).

What you'll need:
  • Tumbler
  • Ice
  • Jigger/Shot Glass
  • Tonic - preferably Fentimans or Fever Tree
  • Gin - something clean but basic like Beefeater will work, but the cucumber notes in Hendricks will be killer (I was out!)
  • Elderflower cordial
  • Fresh cucumber
  • Lime or Mint (for garnish)

Fill your tumbler with ice. Pour in 1/2 shot of elderflower cordial, and 1 shot of gin. Top with tonic and give a gentle stir. Slice the cucumber on the diagonal, and nestle a slice in your drink. Garnish with a slice of lime or some fresh mint leaves.

It's as easy as it gets but the sweetness of the elderflower really plays off well with the bitterness of the tonic (I even drink this sometimes without the Gin!). A slightly amped up G&T which is sure to please gin fans and naysayers alike. Yes, please.
